Mr. Hoang Xuan Hieu

Mr. Hoang Xuan Hieu joined Microsoft Digital Advisory Service in March 2021.
Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Hieu spent over 6 years between 2011 and 2021 working as a Freelance Consultant, advising growth-driven companies on strategic management, corporate governance, business process design and re-engineering, performance management systems.
Mr. Hieu also provided market entry strategy and business development support for international IT companies, leveraging on his extensive experience in developing and implementing IT solutions in various industries, with over 30 years working in several major IT players in Vietnam.
Mr. Hieu joined Oracle in February 2014 as Director for Funded Agency & Government Business, supporting clients in Indochina and Myanmar in achieving success in their government-, ODA-, World Bank-, ADB funded projects.
Prior to that Mr. Hieu served as Senior Vice President of CMC Corporation, a leading IT company in Vietnam, responsible for Business Development and Strategy. He also served as Chairman and then CEO of CMC System Integration, a subsidiary of CMC Corp.
Before joining CMC, Mr. Hieu worked for IBM Vietnam for 12 years from 1995-2007. He had played a key role in setting up IBM in Vietnam – the first major IT company to do so after the US embargo against the country was lifted. During his time at IBM, Hieu held senior leadership positions as CFO and later Deputy General Manager, responsible for Channel Management, Sales, Business Development and Growth Strategy.
Prior to joining IBM, Mr. Hieu worked at the National Center for Science and Technology’s Institute of Information Technology, leading key IT projects at the Ministry of Finance and Vietcombank.
Mr. Hieu was a member of the American Chamber of Commerce, Hanoi Chapter and served as its Vice Chair of the Boards in 2005.
Mr. Hieu received his BS in Operations Research and Management Information Systems in 1984 from the Berlin Business School (Hochschule fuer Oekonomie Berlin), Germany. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1995.
